MEMORIES OF FATHER ALOYSIUS
Father Aloysius was an incredibly
holy priest filled with many
mystical gifts. He was in the
Claretian Order and was living in
Los Angeles, California when I first
met him 35 years ago in 1971.I was
attending Cal State Long Beach State
College at the time. One day a
neighbor of mine who was an airline
stewardess told me about a book she
had received from her mom all about
apparitions of Our Lady appearing in
a small town in Spain called
Garabandal.Little did I know this
book was about to change my entire
life. She also told me about a very
holy Claretian priest she would like
me to meet who lived in L.A. He said
Mass several times a week and gave
talks in the Claretian Centre but I
would have to wait to meet him as he
was ill and in the hospital.
I kept the book for a few weeks and
finally one day took it down to the
beach with me for a good read. I can
clearly recall laying on my blanket
on the beach reading....reading this
book that said Our Lady first
appeared to the children on a Sunday
July 2, 1961...it really shocked me
because I was reading the book on a
Sunday..July2, 1971..Wow!I stayed up
all night and read the entire book!
I went to Mass the next day and have
been going to mass almost everyday
since! I met some young people at
Mass at American Martyrs Church in
Manhattan Beach who also told me
about this holy priest named Father
Aloysius that I would definetly have
to meet! I learned later tha Father
Aloysius was in the hospital with a
brain tumor and glaucoma. He told us
himself how he was miraculously
healed when Our Lady appeared to him
while he was praying his rosary in
bed. She was dressed in blue and had
on a see through veil so he could
see her hair...she laid her two
hands on his head during the second
joyful mystery and he was healed
completely!They have the x rays
before and after his healing at St
Johns Hospital in Santa Monica. He
had a jewish doctor at the time and
when he saw what had happened to
father aloysius he fell on his knees
by his bedside..totally amazed at
this great miracle! Plus the
paralysis on the left sideof his
body was gone as well as his
glaucoma!
I finally got to meet Father
Aloysius one day. I went to Mass at
the Claretian Center where he was
hearing confessions before mass
while everyone recited the Sorrowful
Mysteries of the Scriptural Rosary.
When I went into the room to
confession it was filled withthe
most beautiful aroma of roses I have
ever smelled in my life!.When I went
to confession to Father Aloysius he
read my soul...which means he asked
me about things I was thinking
about. Truly amazing as this is one
of his special gifts(gift of reading
souls, gift of healing, bilocation,
and many other gifts)He invited me
to speak with him after mass as he
was starting an order of nuns and
priest and at hte time i was
discerning if I had a religious
vocation or not.When I left the
confessional I went out to my
friends and said "Wow, what kind of
cologne does he wear?" and they told
me that it was not cologne but the
"odor of sanctity!" to which I said,
the odor of what???
That was just the beginning for me
of finding out more and more about
this amazing priest!Besides having
the odor of sanctity and the gift of
reading souls(which he told us didnt
happen allthe time but only when our
Lord wanted him to know something)he
also had gifts of bilocation,
elevation, healing,and the gift of
reserving the Blessed Sacrament
within his breast from Communion to
communion just like his founder St
Anthony Mary Claret. Once when I
venerated a relic of St Anthony
Claret I smelled the exact odor of
sanctity that I smelled when I was
with Father Aloysius.
After Mass at the Claretian Center
everyone would line up and kneel for
the laying on of hands by Father.
When he prayed over you , you were
filled with this heavenly feeling of
peace and joy...it was wonderful!I
saw many people healed by him from
cancer , blindness, and othe
rillnesses...he also had the gift of
healing over the telephone...just
incredible. He told us "I am not
saying this to brag..because
sometimes Our Lord heals some and
not others" it is a mystery.
One day he told us that he believed
in Garabandal but that he could not
speak about it from the altar
because it had not been approved
yet. He even told us that his sister
owned the land where Our Lady had
appeared in Spain! When I heard all
this I knew Our Lady had brought me
to mee t Father Aloysius. When I was
in Fatima with Father , one morning
I got to meet Conchita at the
Cappelina after mass..the date was
July 28, 1972. After I met her and
spoke with her I asked her if she
would like to meet with Father
Aloysius and she said yes. He came
to the Cappelina at 12 noon Mass and
after mass they met at the Blue
House where he was staying with the
seminarians of his new orde r The
Missionary Sons of Perpetual
Adoration...the order of nuns he was
trying to start in Fatima was called
the Missionary Daughters of St
Anthony Mary Claret. Unfortunately
the Bishop of Fatima John Venacio
who gave permission for the 2 orders
retired and when th enew bishop came
he thought Father Aloysius was too
old to begin 2 new orders. It wasnt
meant to be at that time but some of
his seminarians were ordained and
are now working in Mexico like
Father Charles Carpenter who worked
side by side with Father Aloysius
for many years. He was his personal
secretary and I am sure he could
write a great book about the wonders
of Father Aloysius
I believe Our Lord had appeared to
Father Aloysius because he used to
tell us when Our Lord appears to a
soul..he looks at him with such
great LOVE as if he was the only
soul on the earth..the only soul in
the entire world...He treats him and
speaks to him so, so personally...as
if he was the only soul he created
in the whole world!
